The Fairfield Horseshoe

On a beautiful but windy Tuesday 31st May 2016, half the family and I embarked on one of the classic high level routes in the Lake Distict: The Fairfield Horseshoe. Taking in no less than eight Wainwright peaks and close to the centre of the national park, this is a walk that offers stunning views across most of Cumbria's mountains. However, it is a walk without frightful precipices, difficult ridges or lung bursting climbs - perfect for the curious newcomer to fell walking. We were blessed with gorgeous weather and high pressure all week, making this traverse the first of three days in the high fells of the Lakes.
